What was asked of us
The client was looking for a landscape designer that could think outside of the box, develop creative solutions to the more challenging aspects of the project, and practice patience while they explored what they want and review revisions.
The Asian and contemporary blended design has molded into its final form and has been strategically implemented to work best with the renovation of this outstanding home.
Our main challenge was to marry a rectilinear language with a curvilinear language. We came up with a grid of 2’ wide meditation pathways intersecting all corners of the property. This grid runs through to the front yard with the stone paths laid flush into the concrete driveway.
Everything about this place was grand: from the built in spa room, to the large 2-story window, and the large overhead play deck that wraps around the pool deck. We needed to create a center piece that had a similar scale as the home and links the architecture to the garden. We developed a set of hanging wind chimes to provide a multi-sensory experience.
The final product
There are many unique features in this garden such as the pool deck, spa garden, rooftop garden, custom gates, ergonomically correct vegetable gardens, circular fire pits, and a grove of Cherry trees that were inspired from the Hanami Festival in Japan. This project is going to catch eyes for sure!
